The Swede Survival System offers firefighters the opportunity
to observe fire behavior and the signs that lead to the flashover
phenomenon in a controlled setting. By creating these conditions
over and over again, fire department personnel are provided
with the knowledge and skills to deal with this situation.

Phase 2 - Interior Attack
Building on the principles learned in the Phase 1 system, the students are now at
the same level of the fire floor, and take a more active roll in recognizing the
rooms fire condition, advancing a hose line, and applying the nozzle patterns learned
in the Phase 1 container. The average time each team takes to enter, evaluate, advance,
begin suppression, find the seat of the fire, start ventilation, and exit is less than
five minutes. The fire is allowed to return to its free burning state, and a new team
of students, and instructor, repeats the evolution. There can be multiple evolutions
before the fuel load is depleted.

The Phase 3 container system is a demonstration system only. No one enters
this container during the demonstration. This container uses only class A
combustibles to create a low pressure smoke explosion, also known as a backdraft.
The Instructors can point out this puffing, pushing smoke behavior, which is
followed by the smoke being sucked back into the fire room prior to backdraft.
The expansion of the smoke, followed by a low pressure explosion pushes a fire
ball out the front door twenty feet or more!

The Phase 4 container is basically two forty foot containers that
have been put together with the center wall removed. It provides
a more realistic room size fire floor. There is a smaller twenty
foot container that is attached that provides a non-involved fire
room that is charged with smoke and heat that leads to the involved
fire room. All aspects of the Phase 1, 2 and 3 systems are put to
the test here. This is the most challenging of the Swede Survival
SystemsTM, providing a setting for a larger drill involving multiple
tasks such as entry, rescue, suppression, ventilation, and RIT team.

Multi Story with burn rooms on both levels. Exterior & Interior stairwells.
Basement or 1st Story fire. Multiple exit and entry points with additional
vents. Setting for drills such as entry, rescue, suppression, ventilation,
and RIT team Burn Modules layouts are the same as in Phase 1 & 2.
